Mangle Music

Lunchtime recitals

TUESDAY 7, WEDNESDAY 8, THURSDAY 9 JULY, 12NOON - FREE, Just turn up

Sarah Kenchington’s practice combines an eclectic mix of influences. She creates makeshift musical instruments fashioned from Hoover parts, bits of plumbing and the stuff of DIY, all conceived and constructed in the same spirit of cooperation as her music. From huge brass instruments played by a complex system of valves and tubes, to an enormous spinning-drum kalimba, or her pedal powered Hurdy-Gurdy, each contraption is spectacular and unique, both aurally and visually.

Kenchington will perform lunchtime recitals in the Gallery's Entrance Space as part of her residency at Modern Art Oxford and in Rose Hill.

Yard Party & HORSE BOX ORCHESTRA

THURSDAY 30 JULY, 5PM-10PM - FREE, Booking essential on 01865 813800

Live music & performance, film screenings and bar in Modern Art Oxford's Yard.

Join us for a summer night’s performance of Horse Box Orchestra with artist Sarah Kenchington. In Horse Box Orchestra, the vehicle for Kenchington’s work literally becomes a structure for her to involve a range of voices and influences, and to engage other artists and musicians. An audio recoding and video footage of Sound House will also be played on the night.
