IMAGINE
A celebration of art in Oxfordshire schools

7 to 28 September - FREE ADMISSION

This exhibition at Modern Art Oxford is a display of art created by pupils in Oxfordshire schools and their communities on the Imagine theme. The work has been inspired by artists, museum collections and exhibitions of contemporary visual art, and forms the culmination of a two-year countywide collaborative visual arts project.

Alongside the exhibition, a lively programme of schools workshops, family days and art trolley activities will take place at Modern Art Oxford. Special events have been planned for teachers, gallery educators and everyone interested in visual arts education.

The two-year Imagine project has been a creative partnership between Oxfordshire schools and communities, Arts Council England, South East, Oxfordshire County Council Directorate of Learning and Culture, and local museums and galleries: Ashmolean Museum, The Oxford University Botanic Gardens, Modern Art Oxford, The Oxfordshire Museum/ Cogges Farm, Pitt Rivers Museum, Oxford University Museum of Natural History and the River and Rowing Museum, Henley. Schools in Finland, Norwary and Austria joined the project adding an internaional dimension.

All artworks and projects have been digitally recorded and appear on the Imagine website which is an important element of the exhibition. Where it has not been possible to show original artwork, gallery visitors will be able to view a digital presentation at Modern Art Oxford or access the Imagine project through the website.
