Zilvinas Landzbergas

11 October to 24 December - FREE ADMISSION

The first UK exhibition of work by Lithuanian artist Zilvinas Landzbergas whose work is inspired by the fast transit of images and products that define contemporary life. His scuptural objects and installations explore the effect of surface texture and colour on perception, emotion and atmosphere. For his installation at Modern Art Oxford, Landzbergas creates an environment in which references to sculptures of classical antiquity merge with those taken from contemporary sports culture.

Born in Kaunas, Lithuania in 1979, Landzbergas graduated from the Vilnius Accademy of Fine Art in 2004.

Curated by Miria Swain, Assistant Curator, Modern Art Oxford.

Turner Contemporary will present new work by Darius Ziura from 8 October to 4 December.

ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE

ARRIVALS>LITHUANIA Landzbergas will be in residence in Oxford from 26 September to 11 October. During this time he will work with undergraduate students at the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art to produce a new body of work for exhibition at the gallery.
