Time and Place is a major exhibition of twenty-five paintings by distinguished British artist Howard Hodgkin. Spanning the last ten years of his career, this exhibition features a powerful body of new work and previously unseen paintings. Time and Place offers a fresh view of Hodgkin’s work and reveals his continuing relevance as one of the most vital and distinctive painters of our time.
“It would be hard to find many painters of the past 100 years who could out-scintillate a work such as that bedroom picture.” – Jonathan Jones, The Guardian.
Director Michael Stanley, said, “This summer marked a tremendous moment of change and achievement at Modern Art Oxford. The highly acclaimed Howard Hodgkin exhibition enjoyed by the incredible number of visitors, only demonstrates the enormous value and huge public appetite for the free, high quality arts programme that we contribute to the city.”
Howard Hodgkin: Time and Place continues until Sunday 12 September. The next exhibitions are Manfred Pernice: baldt1 in the upper galleries and Simon & Tom Bloor: Hit and Miss, the second commission for The Yard, which will run from 1 October to 21 November 2010.
