Our 2012 Cultural Olympiad events have been programmed in partnership with Oxford Brookes University as part of the Creative Campus Initiative (inspired by London 2012). Artists in Conversation Thursday 1 July, 7pm FREE, just turn up As part of The Culture of Rowing and Swimming project, join Lithuanian artists Gediminas and Nomeda Urbonas to explore topics including rowing and swimming in political philosophy, concepts of fairness, and issues of competitive elites. The Culture of Rowing & Swimming Film Programme Thursday 15 July, 7pm £3, booking essential Artists’ films relating to rowing and swimming, selected by Tracey Warr and Robert Frenais. This screening will feature films by Kate Rew, Tony Hill, Andrew Kotting, Gediminas and Nomeda Urbonas, Jayne Parker, Jem Cohen and Linda Fregni Nagler with Cesare Pietroiusti. The Culture of Rowing & Swimming Wild Swim Day Saturday 17 July, 8am - 4pm FREE On the Saturday morning swimmers are invited to join Kate Rew, author of Wild Swim and founder of the Outdoor Swimming Society, for a social swim on the Thames. Register here immediately as places are limited and will fill up rapidly. Following the swim, Modern Art Oxford will be screening documentary films of previous Wild Swims and the feature films Million Dollar Mermaid (Esther Williams) and The Swimmer (Burt Lancaster).
