Continuing the series of monthly musical and visual explorations, the Basement Sessions incorporate local and national live acts, guest DJs and oblique films, spread over the main bar area and basement of Modern Art Oxford.

February's line-up will focus on local and national 'electronic' acts who add interesting live improvisational elements to the usual bpms, bleeps and beats.

Masked crusaders of razor sharp Ed Banger style electro go head to head with drummer pal from the ODC Drumline, to form a frenzied attack on the senses. Brand new material. Bass bins beware!

Public Service Broadcasting

Excellent London-based, retro-obsessed duo perform wobbly electronics, tight heavy guitar workouts and live drums overlayed with of a series of kitsch audio samples mixed in from screened public information films. Authentic dress code merely adds to the fun.

'Played regularly on BBC 6Music, Tom Robinson has described PSB as ‘absolutely, sensationally brilliant’. Having performed to rave reviews in the London area since 2009, in 2010 PSB took a live show which added synchronised video (played on a 1960s TV set) to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for 7 nights, generating considerable word-of-mouth. Late 2010 also saw the debut of PSB’s occasional drumming partner, adding yet another dimension to the live show.'

Robots with Souls

A 'one man band' of sorts, with a mash up of live drums, dirty samples, power chord riffs and bluesy vocals all coming together to create a unique take on the singular musical art form.
