Manual Labour

16.11.2010 — 21.11.2010

Art in Rose Hill

Jon Lockhart’s installations are a mix of ready-made items forced into new readings, not only by their placing within the Gallery but through their alignment to one another. His installations often have a sense of the laboratory about them, as though one is witnessing something that has recently taken place. Sound and digital mechanics are also a strong component in his work, as is a playful use of graphics and design.

As part of our Art in Rose Hill programme, artist (and dad) Jon Lockhart has been leading art activities for Dads and their children as part of Rose Hill and Littlemore Children's Centre Saturdads sessions since 2006.

This exhibition and accompanying publication, Manual Labour concludes Lockhart’s involvement with Saturdads after a four-year residency at the Centre. This new publication documents this remarkable journey of shared learning between artist and the public around contemporary art.

During the exhibition Jon Lockhart will be in situ to discuss his ideas with the public.
