This film is set in a cluttered old house near Paris, which was Director Marguerite Duras’ own. The central drama concerns the title character, a remote young girl whose mother is about to send her to boarding school. The story is based on Duras’ decision, years earlier, to send her own son away to school. Starring Lucia Bosé, Jeanne Moreau and Gérard Depardieu.
