Susan Philipsz

You are not alone

31.10.2009 — 03.12.2009

Modern Art Oxford

Susan Philipsz has developed one of the most distinctive and internationally celebrated practices in recent years. Known for her evocative and emotive installations in which her voice is the central medium, Philipsz responds to a given location through song, and more specifically, through intimate recordings of her own singing. The Radcliffe Observatory, built in the late 18th century to observe the Transit of Venus and functioning as an observatory until 1934, provides a unique and remarkable host for a new work.

The Susan Philipsz installation at the Radcliffe Observatory has now closed. Thank you to everyone who visited - we're so pleased to hear you enjoyed it.

This commission has been made possible through the generous collaboration and support of Green Templeton College, Oxford.
