{"id":53206,"date":"2014-09-20T11:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-12-08T09:26:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new-website.modernartoxford.org.uk\/cms\/events\/stuart-brisley\/"},"modified":"2022-12-14T12:28:46","modified_gmt":"2022-12-14T12:28:46","slug":"stuart-brisley","status":"publish","type":"events","link":"https:\/\/www.modernartoxford.org.uk\/cms\/events\/stuart-brisley\/","title":{"rendered":"Stuart Brisley: State of Denmark"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cAll work needs content,\u201d says Brisley, \u201cwithout content there is no work.\u201d Alongside the distinct formalism that underpins six decades of practice, Brisley has unflinchingly probed the contemporary political, cultural and social contexts in which we live, in particular the monarchy and the British class system.<\/p>\n<p>Commissioned by Modern Art Oxford Stuart Brisley\u2019s new sculptural work <em>State of Denmark<\/em> incorporates a crown which hangs above a wedge shaped structure with an open end. One side of which symbolizes the monarchy with the other representing a republican proposition. Overlooking the sculpture is a balcony and inside a pencil portrait of the child prince George can be seen.
