An exhibition of new and recent work by Phil Collins, Jeremy Deller and Jasmila Zbanic. Using film and video the artists question the way recent history is constructed by opening up a space for the kind of histories that are left untold.<\/p>\n
Phil Collins positions himself at sites of political conflict and civil discord in order to capture history as it unfolds. But his film and photographic documents are more than just records. Collins offers us startlingly honest, alternative histories by allowing us the sort of personal intimacy that is normally edited out. For RECALL<\/em> Collins will present new and recent work.<\/p>\n Jeremy Deller weaves together events from the past with fallout from the present. His work forms contemporary history painting in which narratives constantly shift. Deller uses the documentary medium as a performative structure within which different ideas and view points jostle on equal terrain. Deller presents the first UK exhibition of his film Memory Bucket<\/em> commissioned by Art Pace, San Antonio. Part documentary and part nature programme with political and religious undercurrents<\/p>\n Jasmila Zbanic began making films during the Bosnian War (1992-1995). Her films are a rich mosaic of personal accounts that she pieces together to offer us a new set of images to recall.
