Secession<br><\/strong>Cinthia Marcelle (2014)<br>Upon encountering Cinthia Marcelle\u2019s exhibition, <em>Dust Never Sleeps<\/em> at Secession in Vienna, visitors entered an abandoned room covered from wall to ceiling in black soot. In a nearby space, Marcelle filled a display case with around 4,000 neatly stacked matchboxes, instilling an ominous atmosphere. Providing an extension to this 2014 exhibition, Marcelle&#8217;s elegant artist&#8217;s book is centred around a&nbsp;series of monochrome frottages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.modernartoxford.org.uk\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Seccession-222x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-23623 lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 222px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 222\/300;\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Uprisings<br><\/strong>Georges Didi-Huberman (2016)<br>Uprisings examines how artists have been provoked to represent collective emotions, political agitations and social disorder through various media including painting, drawing, photography and film.
