This species or another.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><strong>Crewcut &amp; fatigued, a swollen head on the box says thin-lipped,<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><em><strong>When most people talk about killing,<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><em><strong>they are like virgins talking about sex.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><strong>A gathered clump of persons, dogs, children,<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><strong>&amp; their several prosthetics &amp; familiars<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><strong>with no cock in the fight &amp; all the skin in the game<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><strong>sit round a borrowed flatscreen on beer crates<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><strong>to watch it all go down. Holy hero sad maso<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><strong>kingdom glory shit, you know \u2013<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><strong>&amp; here we go:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><strong>I\u2019m drinking in my overcoat<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><strong>when the Little Guy comes through.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><strong>Stiff legged hatchet faced<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><strong>in suit jack &amp; jeans, two fisting<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><strong>cig &amp; tin for the tough slit<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><strong>of a stiff gob. <em>Don\u2019t shut yer hole.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><strong>We eye each other haughtily,<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><strong>2 bantams clucking in the pen.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><strong>Proud, wounded, whatever:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><strong>smack down the hand that scatters crumbs in the gutter,<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><strong>&amp; don\u2019t say thanks for dinner.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><strong>Pride is made despite; the likes of you &amp; you &amp; you &amp; you<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><strong>can&#8217;t imagine what it\u2019s like.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><strong>They\u2019ll say it\u2019s counterrevolutionary,<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><strong>but give me milk &amp; mones &amp; money,<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><strong>whatever can be counted must be loved \u2013<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><strong>&amp; give me the details of sex in the morning,<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><strong>life enduring. Let impasse at long last be boring.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><strong>Very democratic is the failure of the body,<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><strong>very democratic is the wait at A&amp;E.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><strong>Deskilling as human &amp; pledging secession,<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><strong>singing shut me up &amp; hold me tight.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><strong>We\u2019re waiting down the depot at midnight,<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:0.5\"><strong>While the uniformed soldiers ignore us.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>About <em>VIRGINS<\/em>, Darling&#8217;s debut collection of poems:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Experiential and mapped,&nbsp;<em>VIRGINS<\/em>&nbsp;takes us on car rides, through hotel rooms and up close to meat viscera and enamel structures.
