<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\nCan you tell us about what you are working on during your Residency?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n During my residency I have been exploring what it means to put the artistic process on display, in contrast to putting works of art on display. This has included exploring: artist residencies in museums and galleries and how they provide an at times literal window into the artistic process; examples of works of art that speak to the artistic process; and how both the nature of the artist\u2019s institutional critique, and the expectations of artists-in-residents, differ between museums, commercial galleries, and kunsthallen.*<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n How do you engage with the audience’s reactions and feedback to your work, and how does this impact your artistic process?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n My preferred method of research is through conversation. Rather than be in dialogue with a work or art or a book, I prefer to be in dialogue with people who can give me their reactions and feedback and who I can then respond to in real time. And so, for this residency I decided to have \u2018Noontime Research Check-Ins\u2019 fortnightly in August and September. I was out of town for one and so the artist and facilitator Deborah Pill kindly stepped in to lead a \u2018Noontime Research Check-In\u2019. People who participated introduced me to information, artists, events, places, and ideas, and then helped me to flesh out these relevant parts into future research vectors. Engaging with the participants in this way has allowed me to map out my main research inquiry for this Residency, and prepare for future research. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n * A kunsthalle is a facility that mounts temporary art exhibitions, similar to an art gallery.
