Who were the Situationists and how does their playful and experimental work link to our current exhibition with Samson Kambalu?
Join writer McKenzie Wark as she responds to Kambalu’s use of détournement, a practice of playful appropriation developed by the French avant-garde group, the Situationist International, and explored in her book The Beach Beneath the Street: The Everyday Life and Glorious Times of the Situationist International (2011). Wark’s presentation will be followed by a discussion with artist Samson Kambalu.
This online event will be live captioned, and a full transcript will be available on request after the event.
