(1940, dir. Charles Chaplin. Cert PG)
In a special collaboration with the Ultimate Picture Palace, Oxford’s only independent cinema, we present three classic films relating to the themes explored in Hannah Ryggen: Woven Histories.
Beginning this series is Charlie Chaplin’s first fully-talking picture. Chaplin plays the double role of dictator Adenoid Hynkel, the ludicrous anti-Semitic Dictator of Tomania who tries to expand his empire, and an innocent Jewish barber who attempts to avoid persecution from Hynkel’s regime.
