Celebrating the opening of Claudette Johnson’s exhibition, Oxford-based jazz funk act, The Tropics bring us their high-energy grooves. Support comes from jazz vocalist Call.Me.Tiece who performs as part of the highly regarded Oxford Inner Peace Records collective.
The Tropics are a heavyweight jazz funk band, comprised of a super tight rhythm section and powerhouse horns. They have played in front of a broad range of audiences, from club gigs such as the O2 Academy-based Craig Charles Funk and Soul Club, to sunset crowds at the Oxfordshire Cornbury Festival.
Call.Me.Tiece brings her trip hop beats and smoky jazz vocal blues to Modern Art Oxford. She performs as part of the Oxford and London based Inner Peace Records collective which recently played a live session on the BBC Radio Oxford Introducing show and were cover stars of Oxford’s Nightshift magazine.
The evening will also include a DJ set by Oxford-based electronic producer Octavia Freud.
This event forms part of the Preview Party for Claudette Johnson’s new exhibition I Came to Dance. Find out more information here.
