Modern Art Oxford is reopening on Friday 21 May
Modern Art Oxford is reopening on Friday 21 May. We can’t wait to see you again and welcome you to our brand new exhibition Samson Kambalu: New Liberia. For his largest solo exhibition, Oxford-based Malawian artist Samson Kambalu creates a playful installation that explores both his childhood experiences in Malawi and his current life as an Oxford University professor. Find out more.
We have also put together a series of online and in-person events related to the exhibition, which you can book here.
To ensure the wellbeing of our staff and visitors, we have put additional measures in place for when you visit. These include:
Please remember that you must now book a free ticket ahead of your visit. We have set up 15-minute arrival slots throughout each day. Please book a ticket for each member of your party for an available slot and arrive within your allotted time slot. You are then welcome to stay as long as you like, or until the gallery closes at 4pm.
We have also limited numbers in the Creative Space, our dedicated family-friendly space where we encourage visitors of all ages to experiment, learn and play. The Creative Space is only open on Saturdays and Sundays, when members of our team are on hand to help with creative activities provided, we are asking that you book a time slot to ensure everyone can stay safe and enjoy themselves.
The gallery will now be open Tuesday – Sunday 11am – 4pm. We are not open on Mondays.
Please note that on the last Thursday of May and June, we will extend our opening hours to 8pm.
A one-way system
Please enter the gallery via the Pembroke St entrance and exit via St Ebbe’s Street.
Please wear a face covering for the safety of other visitors and staff.
We are limiting the number of visitors to the gallery so that you can maintain social distancing during your visit.
We will have additional hand sanitising and washing stations throughout the building that you will be encouraged to use regularly.
We are currently only able to accommodate a maximum group size of 6 to the gallery.
Modern Art Oxford’s Shop is the perfect place to pick up unique gifts for all the family, as well as exhibition catalogues and artist’s editions. In collaboration with Samson Kambalu, the Shop will offer exclusive merchandise including postcards, a new artist’s edition, and exhibition related texts.
Please note that if you just want to visit our Shop, you do not need to book a General Admission ticket.
