Use sand, plaster and mud to make large-scale drawings in this experimental workshop inspired by Mike Nelson: Double Negative (The Clown). Explore the exhibition, meet new people and try drawing with unexpected materials.
What to expect:
We’ll begin in the exhibition, using charcoal to draw what we see. You’ll explore how Mike Nelson treats his sketchbook as a studio: a space to experiment, develop ideas and work things out.
Then we’ll head downstairs to the Studio, swapping sketchbooks for large tarpaulins. Working with sand, plaster, mud and chalk, we’ll experiment with marks and textures to create drawings that will hang on the Studio walls.
Tickets include all necessary materials, a guided walk-through of the Upper Galleries, and a complimentary drink.
We’re offering these tickets on a pay-what-you-can basis (£17.50, £22.50 or £27.50), with higher-price options helping to support Modern Art Oxford as a charity and keep events like this accessible to more people.
