City as Studio: Film-making Residency for ages 16-19

Want to get creative over the holidays? Sign up for our next free City as Studio residency for ages 16-19.

Join professional artist Kate Mahony at Modern Art Oxford during our Ruth Asawa exhibition, to explore DIY and collaborative film-making, and consider what it means to be a ‘Citizen of the Universe’.

By taking part in this free, five day residency, you will work towards achieving your Silver Arts Award and create your own City as Studio zine.

By the end of the residency you will have learnt:

  • How professional artists make creative, unique films

  • What artistic and technical skills go into film-making

  • How art films develop from a creative idea into a finish film for display to public audiences

You will also have the opportunity to join an all-day event celebrating the visionary artist, educator and activist Ruth Asawa on 11 June, 11am-4pm at Modern Art Oxford, and present the work you have created during the residency.

All participants will receive a free project pack including all the materials they will need to participate in the residency.

Please note: To take part in the residency you will need to be available for all five days (30 May – 3 June 2022) and be able to attend the sessions at the gallery. You will also need access to a mobile phone. If you need any support with equipment in order to take part, please let us know via the sign up form, or get in touch at creativelearning@modernartoxford.org.uk.

If you are under 18 we will require consent from your parents or carer before taking part.

This residency is free and booking is essential. Places are limited. Please sign up via the form below.
