Drawing Club x Modern Art Oxford

Come along to Drawing Club – a relaxed, playful space where curiosity matters more than getting it right. Whether you’ve never picked up a pencil before, enjoy drawing from time to time or make art every day, everyone is welcome.

This isn’t a traditional drawing class. Each session has a starting point, but you’ll be encouraged to get distracted, make mistakes and follow your curiosity. Your host, Bethan, will guide you through the session, cheering on even your wobbliest lines.

This session’s theme is Ways of Seeing: Objects. Choose an everyday object and explore it through playful prompts inspired by artists including Basquiat, Yayoi Kusama, Matisse, David Hockney, Grayson Perry and Hannah Höch. Rather than copying their work, you’ll use their ideas to experiment and discover new ways of seeing.

There are no right or wrong ways to draw, no pressure to create a masterpiece and no experience needed. All materials are provided, so come along on your own or with a friend for a relaxed hour of making, laughing and trying something new.
