Join the Young Creatives Collective

Interested in a career in the arts? Want to learn more about how an arts organisation is run?

We are looking for 8 individuals aged 16-18 to join Modern Art Oxford’s Young Creatives Collective.

This year’s Young Creatives Collective will meet monthly throughout 2023 and 2024 as part of our artist-led project for young people living in Oxfordshire.

During your time at Modern Art Oxford, you will gain experience of working directly with professional artists and arts professionals who will help shape your ideas into public events and creative projects for the Modern Art Oxford programme.

What does being in Modern Art Oxford’s Young Creatives Collective involve?

Throughout the year, you will work alongside guest artists, Modern Art Oxford colleagues, and other Young Creatives to co-curate a mini-programme including 2 public events, a pop-up exhibition and digital content for our MAO Studio.

We are asking each applicant to commit to a period of 12 months, during which there will be 11 Saturday sessions and two public events. Sessions will start in September 2023, and run through to July 2024.

No previous art experience necessary, just an open and curious mind.

“As cliché as it sounds, just have fun. Everyone is nervous at first but after a few sessions you’ll really feel that sense of community.” – Words of advice from a young artist

Modern Art Oxford is committed to ensuring we have a public programme that reflects the diversity of our audiences, and we know that working with people from a range of backgrounds is vital for the work we do across our organisation.

For all opportunities at Modern Art Oxford, we particularly welcome hearing from members of the global majority and people with disabilities. Expressions of interest from these groups will be guaranteed a place on the shortlist.

It’s hugely important to us that everyone on the project feels fully supported and cared for. We understand that support means different things to everyone, and that everyone has individual needs. For this reason, this opportunity includes a 1:1 chat with a member of our team to answer any questions and help to ensure our spaces are as comfortable for you as possible.
