This Make Play at Home shows you a fun and simple way to make painting at home more sensory and exciting. This only takes ten minutes to set up for hours of fun!

What you will need:

  • Paint
  • Balloons
  • Blu tack or tape
  • Newspaper or big sheets of paper
  • String

Optional extras:

  • Paint brushes, sponges (You can always just use your fingers!)

Let’s Play

  1. Cover a wall or floor with large pieces of paper. This will be your canvas!
  2. Blow up your balloons. Try experimenting with how big you blow them.
  3. Attach your balloons to the paper using string and Blu tack or tape.
  4. Start painting!

Paint around and on top of the balloons. Enjoy the squishy, bouncy texture the balloons give.

Tip: Try painting on the balloons and bouncing them against the paper to see what marks and textures they create. To add more textures, try using bubble wrap, cardboard or anything else you might have in your recycling bin.

This could get quite messy – so be sure to wear an apron or old clothes you don’t mind getting paint on.

Have fun playing! For more creative activities to do with your child, book onto one of our Make Play sessions. They start on 18 January offering sensory playtime for you and your child.
